What Needs Handling Before Demo Starts

Older structures sometimes carry appliances with refrigerant — a garage refrigerator or a window A/C unit — which need that refrigerant recovered before landfill disposal, not simply crushed with the rest of the structure. Asbestos, common in older siding, flooring, and insulation, including the kind found in some of Nashua’s older mill-era homes, is never allowed in any roll-off under any circumstance and always requires a licensed abatement contractor to clear it before demo. Permits and Placement

A container placed on the property — driveway, side yard, jobsite — needs no permit anywhere in our service area. If a demo job requires street placement, that’s a City of Nashua Board of Public Works matter inside city limits, under City Code Ch. 285’s obstruction-license section; call ahead to confirm current requirements and any applicable fee. In the other New Hampshire towns we serve, that town’s own select board or public works department handles it, since Hillsborough and Rockingham counties have no permitting authority of their own.
